Spinal stenosis can cause chronic back pain, along with symptoms like weakness and numbness. Typically, doctors prescribe pain relievers and physical therapy to manage these symptoms. However, when these conservative treatments don’t provide adequate relief, surgery is often considered the next option. At Kansas Regenerative Medicine Center, we’re pleased to offer an alternative: stem cell therapy for spinal stenosis, providing patients a pathway to long-term relief without the inherent risks of surgery. With convenient locations in Manhattan, KS, and Leawood, KS, we’re ready to help you explore innovative, non-surgical solutions.
What Is Spinal Stenosis?
Spinal stenosis occurs when one or more of the spaces within the spine, called foramina, become narrowed. As these spaces tighten, the space available for the nerves decreases, leading to nerve compression. This compression can result in symptoms such as pain, tingling, numbness, and muscle weakness.
Spinal stenosis is often caused by spinal degeneration linked to osteoarthritis. This degeneration can reduce the space in the nerve canal, leading to pressure on the spinal nerves. Other possible causes include herniated discs, spine injuries, or thickened ligaments within the spinal column.
Stem Cell Therapy as a Treatment Option
Stem cells are unique in their ability to transform into various types of cells. In spinal stenosis treatment, stem cells are used to help repair and regenerate injured tissue, offering significant pain relief by restoring the affected spinal areas.
In this therapy, stem cells are obtained from the patients adipose (fat) tissue using a minimally invasive technique in a same-day procedure. These cells are isolated and injected precisely at the site of tissue damage or degeneration, promoting tissue regeneration and reducing nerve compression. For those looking to alleviate the symptoms of spinal stenosis through advanced, non-surgical options, contact the Kansas Regenerative Medicine Center to learn more or schedule an appointment.
