Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is a condition that can cause pain, numbness, and weakness, affecting the hands, feet, arms, and legs. Peripheral neuropathy can be treated, and the pain and discomfort can be eased with the right treatment protocols. If you suffer from neuropathy, come in and talk with us about what can be done to ease your pain. Kansas Regenerative Medicine Center offers a variety of treatments designed to address the underlying causes of this condition, providing you with relief and a path to recovery.

What is Peripheral Neuropathy?

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when nerves outside the brain and spinal cord (peripheral nerves) become damaged or diseased. This condition affects the body’s ability to communicate sensory information and can lead to a variety of uncomfortable and debilitating symptoms, including:

  • Numbness and tingling in the hands, feet, fingers, and toes
  • Burning sensations in hands and feet
  • Muscle weakness in the arms or legs, often leading to difficulty picking up objects or frequent dropping of items
  • Leg cramps or general muscle weakness
  • Loss of dexterity and coordination
  • Muscle wasting

Peripheral neuropathy can make daily tasks and physical activity difficult, leading to a sedentary lifestyle that may worsen overall health. For many, diabetic neuropathy is a common cause, but other factors such as vascular damage, autoimmune diseases, infections, or physical injury can also lead to nerve damage.

Drug-Free Approaches to Peripheral Neuropathy Treatment

While some treatments rely heavily on pain medications that only mask symptoms and may have side effects, Kansas Regenerative Medicine Center focuses on regenerative approaches that aim to heal the body and repair nerve damage. Here are some of the innovative treatment options we offer:

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

This cutting-edge therapy utilizes the healing properties of your own blood. A small sample of blood is taken, and platelets—cells that help with tissue repair—are concentrated and then re-injected into areas of nerve damage. This promotes natural healing and tissue regeneration, reducing pain and improving nerve function.

The Stem Cell Therapy Process

1

Initial consultation

Our expert physicians will meet with you by phone or in-person to review your medical history and will determine if you’re a good candidate for stem cell therapy. If we agree stem cell therapy can help, we’ll schedule your first appointment in our offices in either Kansas City or Manhattan, Kansas.

Treatment

In most cases our outpatient treatment takes four hours and is nearly pain free. You do not have to “go under.” On the day of your procedure, our physicians will collect stem cells using only local anesthesia - Fat is obtained from the low back or abdomen, bone marrow is obtained from the back part of the hip. After stem cell collection, you will relax in a private room. Once processed, your stem cells will be injected into the area of need using a highly sophisticated ultrasound instrument with enhanced needle visualization for precise delivery of your stem cells. We use a C-ARM for back injections. Fluroscopy is an imaging technique that uses X-RAYS to obtain real time moving images of the interior of an object. In some cases, we also administer an IV of your stem cells during treatment to further enhance your body’s natural healing process.

Follow-up Treatment

There is virtually no recovery time from your stem cell therapy procedure. Most people are back to work the following day.

Physical Therapy - KRMC has partnered with several physical therapist providers specifically trained in therapy following regenerative treatments. The combination of regenerative medicine and physical therapy to correct biomechanical imbalances offers patients an empowering way to take control of their lives.

Our medical staff will remain in touch with you during your recovery process to answer questions.

Payment Options

Patients who are considered to be candidates will be invited for a consultation with one of our panel physicians completely free of charge. Treatment cost varies depending on the disease state being treated and which type of stem cell deployment is required. To apply for medical financing, visit Bank of the Flint Hills.
